Yesterday I participated in a SIDA seminar about Innovation Against Poverty. Interesting concept from SIDA and maybe a way forward.

Eco-Fuel Affrica - Sustainable Charcoal in Uganda.
"Eco-Fuel Africa work wirh local communities in Africa to turn farm and municipal waste into clean-burning fuel briquettes and organic fertilisers. IAP funding will help them scale up their operations to produce and sell more fuel briquettes, which burn longer and more cleanly than traditional fuel-wood".
HiNation - Solar lighting and mobile changing in Zambia
"HiNationseek to commercialise their portable solar light and mobile phone charging panel into Zambia. Its use will reduce charging cost for end users and provide opportunities for rental entrepreneurs".
Vagga till Vagga - Biomass pellet stoves in Zambia
"Vagga till Vagga wants to provide an alternative source of energy to families through an inclusive waste-to-energy business project based on waste sawdust and husks.
Sunny People - Rural mobile charging entrepreneurs in Kenya
"Sunny People aims to spread solar chargers across East Africa to increase access to electricity. By identifying entrepreneurs in rural areas to buy the chargers through hire purchase agreements, they plan to provide 200.000 chargers by 2020".
Sanergy - Sustainable sanitation for urban slums in Kenya
"Sanergy aims to improve sanitation in urban slums of Kenya by designing user friendly systems to increase usage and reduce cleaning costs".
